Electric Network Frequency Analysis 2.0

Nachtbild Europa_CC.jpg

Mar 31, 2021 15:37 Electric Network Frequency Analysis enables the identification of the timestamp and the authenticity of an audio or a video by employing grid frequency data. Gridradar's geographically distributed measurement system additionally allows the regional allocation of the point of origin of a tape.

Jan 10, 2021 16:56 On 29.12.2020, a reactor fast shutdown occurred at the Krško nuclear power plant (SI) as a result of an earthquake in Petrinja (HR), about 100 km away, at about 12:20. Interestingly, different levels of frequency deviation occurred in Europe as a result of the RESA.

Grid frequency in Europe drops to 49.75 Hz on 08.01.2021 - consequence system split

Jan 08, 2021 15:58 On 08.01.21, the grid frequency dropped below 49.75 Hz at 14:05:07 (CET). Until shortly before 14:05, the frequency hovered around 50.02 - 50.03 Hz, but then the grid frequency dropped almost 270 mHz within 13 seconds, an absolutely extraordinary event in the European power grid!

UCTE grid dips to 49,82 Hz on 23.07.2020 at 2400

Unterfrequenz_Juli_2020.jpeg

Jul 24, 2020 20:20 At the change of day from 23 to 24 July 2020, a massive frequency dip occurred. Similar to the event on 10 January 2019, a frequency value of 49.82 Hertz was recorded at all grid radar frequency recorders across Europe. At a frequency of 49.80 Hertz, transmission grid operators start load shedding to counteract a blackout.

Influence of football on mains frequency

Jun 05, 2020 14:04 How happy we would have been: eagerly waiting for a good game of footie, watching the telly or the screen in the pub, excited when our team wins ... and the network operators? They are happy when the games are over, no matter who wins! Why, you may ask? Because major events can be followed not only on television, but also on the mains frequency.

Turbine trip of Gösgen NPP in Switzerland

Oct 01, 2019 17:19 On 26 July 2019, the Gösgen nuclear power plant (CH) experienced a turbine shutdown. A rapid turbine shutdown results in a load shedding to zero, which means that a power plant is suddenly no longer available to generate electrical energy. What effects does this have on the frequency and why?
